These amazing people have been nominated to our board for the upcoming term.

Kelley Watt
President

Kelley Watt is the Education Specialist for Deaf and Hard of Hearing at Region 4 Education Service Center in Houston. She has worked in the field of deaf education for 18 years as a teacher, lead teacher, RDSPD coordinator, and ESC consultant. Kelley has a bachelor degree in Deaf Education and a master degree in educational management with both teaching and principal certifications. She has been active in TAPED, serving on the Executive Board in various positions since 2010. Kelley has worked as TAPED President and SWCED Chairperson for the 2016-2018 term.



Debbie Martin
Vice-President

Debbie Martin is the Coordinator for the Plano RDSPD.  She has worked in the field of deaf education for 38 years as a teacher, parent advisor, team leader and coordinator.  She has been active in TAPED as Vice President, and on the SWCED planning committee for the silent auction and listening and spoken language speakers’ strand.



Marina McCormick
Secretary

Marina McCormick has 18 years of experience in the field of special education as both a teacher of the deaf and as a special education administrator.  She holds a master’s degree in Multicultural Urban Special Education from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, and a Bachelor of Science in Education for Persons with Hearing Loss from the Robert E. Cook Honors College of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  In addition, she received her principal certification as part of the Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP) at Rice University. Mrs. McCormick is currently a 2nd-year doctoral student at the University of Houston, studying Professional Leadership with a focus on Special Populations.



Angela Belding
Director of Educators

Angela Belding completed her 32nd year in Deaf Education, the last 12 years serving as the Program Coordinator of the Brazos River Regional Day School Program for the Deaf. She has been on the TAPED Board for 10 years serving as the Secretary for 6 years, and more recently as the Director of Educators for the past 4 years.



Dr. Bobbie Beth Scoggins
Director at Large

Dr. Bobbie Beth Scoggins’ career has been primarily in education and the nonprofit sector.  Soon after earning her doctorate degree, she became executive director of the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing with a 14-year tenure with KCDHH.  She brought national recognition to Kentucky for being one of the most progressive states in deaf and hard of hearing services. She was credited with establishing a state law for licensing interpreters, an educational resource center on deafness, universal newborn hearing screening, insurance coverage for hearing aids, mental health programs for deaf and hard of hearing people, TV captioning, and a statewide videoconferencing network.  In 2007, she became chief operations officer of Communication Service for the Deaf, responsible for all aspects of CSD’s human services divisions, including community interpreting, and national programs and services.  She is currently the director of the Educational Statewide Resource Center on Deafness for her alma mater, Texas School for the Deaf.



Lindsey Chandler
Parent Director

Lindsey Chandler is the parent of a 5-year-old deaf child who will start kindergarten in the fall. She has been an interpreter for 20 years in deaf education.
